Why you say no when opportunity knocks…
Opening up to opportunities...
How often do you hold back from taking a chance — from speaking up, trying something new, or challenging yourself — even when a part of you wants to?
Our reactions to opportunities big or small are determined by how our brain interprets the opportunity — and the emotions that follow.
If your mind, like mine once did, jumps to thoughts like:
"That’s for other people."
"That’s not possible for me."
"I’m not capable of that."
…then thoughts produce unhelpful emotions that then fuel your behavioural inaction.
So how can you start to open up to opportunities? Start by simply consciously noticing.
When you catch yourself shutting down an opportunity, take a moment to pause and consider. Get curious — not judgmental. Ask: What thoughts or feelings might be driving this decision and do they serve me?
That’s the moment where opportunity can start to become possibility.
There’s so much that’s emotionally possible for you than you might yet had chance to realise.
