Craving mental peace?! Let’s get you some…

The wonderful benefits of mental quiet. The sleep, the feeling of calm, the restful moments…

Now it’s school holidays, perhaps like I am, you're navigating the frazzling balance of childcare and work?!

With the relentless of modern life, a lot of us share the emotional goal of wanting to feel calmer.

Metal peacefulness can so easily feel out of reach, leading to challenging feelings like stress, pressure and frustration. Our goal of feeling calm can seem like a distant dream.

Luckily, our brain can learn to empower us with the right steps.

Calm is physiologically restorative and well worth taking steps to experience, a welcome break from the drain of challenging feelings.

Let's explore how you can access increased mental peacefulness and the feeling of calm you so deserve.

Normally, we're often getting through the relentlessness of each day as best we can whilst our brain, constantly constructs thoughts, both consciously and subconsciously.

When your brain is used to processing at high speed, constantly switching demands, problem solving and analysing, the mental speed and noise can build up.

It can feel like mental peacefulness and calm are completely out of reach. Even if you’re sat in total silence!

Thoughts, worries and never-ending to-do lists can be hard to turn off; even during precious moments when you’re trying to simply ‘be’.

When you don’t create an opportunity for your conscious and subconscious thoughts to process effectively, they swirl around, fighting for your attention. Mental peace can be very difficult to experience.

Wonderfully though, you can take steps to process your everyday thinking far more effectively.

When you take time to process your emotionally relevant thoughts, you can feel much calmer and mental peacefulness is far easier to experience.

Even when life is still very busy.

An Empowering Self-Support Step:

This week, let's enable you to experience a quieter brain. One that finds it easier to generate calm.

From today, imagine the relief of knowing you have a calming appointment at the end of each day with an amazing person.

You’ll be sitting down next to them and they’ve promised to be a wonderful listener, ready to listen to all of your busy thinking respectfully, without interrupting.

They'll support you to feel calmer once you've been fully heard, validated and understood.

This amazing person and amazing listener is you.

The idea is simple, yet so effective:

Sit quietly towards the end of each day with a fresh sheet of paper.

Luckily, the human brain loves to answer questions so you can use this to your advantage.

Ask yourself one of these gentle, simple questions...

What feels challenging right now and why?

What are all the things I'm trying to remember?

What thoughts keep coming into my consciousness?

Any one of these questions will help you process some of your emotionally relevant thinking.

Write in a way that's private. Have a really good, unfiltered rant!

You aren’t trying to stop or judge your thoughts; just enabling them to process more effectively each day.

By externalising your thoughts, you’re able to process your daily thinking more effectively. Your mental noise can quieten.

Feeling calm can become much easier.

Why this matters…

Externalising your daily thinking is one example of how it’s possible to build a new, empowering relationship with your own brain.

One where you can support it to deliver your emotional goals.
